Distribution of goats or kids in Limbé in November 2022
Limbe HaitiVision is pleased to share with you the realization of a solidarity project that it finalized in Limbe in November 2022.
Indeed, following the flood of March 5, we had the idea of showing our solidarity with people who lost farm animals. It was our way of helping Limbe a little.
Unfortunately, the project started during the summer and we fell into the blocking period of the country due to the non-availability of gasoline. This situation has affected our budget significantly. Given the reduction in public transport in the country, our collaborators could not access the well-known animal markets or “hoists” in the North to have access to animals at attractive prices. Thus, the supply of animals in the local "hoists" has decreased considerably and the cost of a goat, for example, has increased by nearly 40%.
We therefore had to reduce the distribution of goats (cabrits) to 12 animals and stop making other purchases under these conditions. After all sorts of setbacks, two dead animals attacked by dogs, difficulty feeding the animals, etc. we were able to distribute the remaining animals to a few families from Limbé in the Préval region. In the future, we will undertake other projects that are quicker to complete and easier to manage.
We do not share all of our photos and videos out of respect for the privacy of recipients. We're only showing you a few photos that we've cropped to remove people's faces.
Thank you to our collaborators on site who made this project possible: our local representative Ricardo J. Vernet, the volunteers P. Obas, OJ Vernet and C. Joseph.
Limbe HaitiVision will continue to work for the development of Limbe. Long live Limbe!
